Improve Your Hotel's Online Presence - Guide 2 for Hoteliers

What is it?
It is the continuity of the 1st guide published last week, "First Steps to Get Your Hotel Visible Online"

What is this second guide about?
It is about the way most independent hotels use the web, compared to the way Google thinks Hoteliers should use the web.
It gives an idea of where hoteliers lack performance and how they can optimize their online presence to match Google's requirements.

This guide is dedicated to hoteliers, but the online presence optimization process works for any type of businesses.

6 Trends + Tactics >>> Impact Marketing + Social Media

An excellent presentation of the traditional customer purchase path  vs. current customer created maze of paths.  It is also clear from the graphics that hoteliers (and other businesses) need to rethink their website as the 'final destination' and change their focus from driving customers to the website site to meeting customers at THEIR preferred touchpoint.

The reality of online commerce is that it is cluster shaped.  Sharp online commerce professionals will adopt an ecosystem approach. Slide 20 stands out as the cluster of commerce is well illustrated

Multiple digital touchpoints give rise to other issues

  • Available resources - experience, staff + budget
  • Maximizing for interdependencies - various touchpoints working in sync
  • How to differentiate in the crowded social fields
Is your organization thinking cluster?

Google Study: Multi-screen Trend and Consumer Behavior

The online customer behavior is changing as mobile devices evolve. We are in a multi-screen world, in which consumers are naturally adapting, unlike many local businesses that are still lagging behind. This study provides an overall view of how multi-screen trend is impacting the consumer's life and its online experience. It should help local businesses to target which devices their customers are more likely to use, so they can adapt their marketing strategies. Multiscreenworld Final Source: thefuturebuzz

First Steps to Get Your Hotel Visible Online

Dedicated to hoteliers, this paper is the first part of a complete guide that will help hotel marketers to review the online presence of their hotel.

These first steps were made in the objective to help hoteliers figure out the importance of an optimized online presence.

It briefly shows the direct consequences that an inappropriate use of social media sites and Google's tools, along with a never updated website can have on the revenue of the hotel.

This paper is also an extract of my thesis about "The Online Competition between Hoteliers and OTAs". You will be able to find (in the near future) more similar research papers on my recently created blog: http://marketmyrooms.wordpress.com/
